Policies and actions of EU Public Diplomacy
Impact: (a) a deeper understanding of the challenge to communicate not only the functioning of the EU and its added value to the world, but (b) also of the need of how EUPD could open new channels for European and non-European citizens to communicate and engage with the EU.
EU Public Diplomacy: Opportunities and Challenges of the Social Media
Impact: (a) students will critically understand the dynamics surrounding EUPD, and how the use of internet-social media activities can open communication between EU policymakers and citizens, (b) allowing the EU not only to develop and maintain contact with wider publics online, but also to harness new communication tools to listen to and target important audiences and major online influencers.
Post graduate Courses
Theory and Practice of EU Public Diplomacy
Upon completion of the course students will be able to critically understand the challenges and shortcomings of EUPD, but also how the assets of the Union as a democratic and multi-actor entity, shared values and impressive record of inter-state collaboration, can facilitate the efforts for enhanced public and media engagement internally and externally.
Civil Society and EU Public Diplomacy
Upon completion of the course students will be able to critically understand how EUPD can and should encourage discursive processes, strengthening the European public sphere with regard to the profoundly political and critical issues of the present era.
About Jean Monnet Chair on European Union Public Diplomacy
The School of Journalism and Mass Communication of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, with the award to Professor Christos Frangonikolopoulos of the Chair on European Union Public Diplomacy, has launched a teaching and research programme that explores and identifies how to use Public diplomacy for increasing connections and shaping perceptions in and outside EU.
